MEMERANGI HOAKS VAKSINASI COVID - 19 DENGAN PENERAPAN SEMBILAN ELEMEN JURNALISME: ANALISIS KASUS DARI KORAN KEDAULATAN RAKYAT YOGYAKARTA
Abstract
Addressing the issue of Covid-19 vaccination hoaxes requires active participation from both mass media and society in understanding methods of identifying trustworthy messages to avoid the dissemination of potentially harmful false information that could disrupt trust in the vaccination program. Recognizing this dynamic, research is needed to find solutions to this social challenge, with the hope that the public can experience comfort and high optimism in engaging with the Covid-19 vaccination process. This study adopts theories of hoaxes or misinformation, principles of journalism, and the social responsibility of mass media. The research method used is qualitative descriptive, gathering data through observation, interviews, and documentation with the Editorial Board of Koran Kedaulatan Rakyat (KR) Yogyakarta. Data analysis is conducted using a descriptive analysis model. The research findings indicate that Koran Kedaulatan Rakyat (KR) Yogyakarta applies 9 principles of journalism in efforts to prevent the spread of Covid-19 vaccination hoaxes, including the duty to convey truth, loyalty to the public, and independence from news sources. However, obstacles such as excessive press freedom and public interest in hoaxes exist. To address these issues, Koran Kedaulatan Rakyat (KR) Yogyakarta suggests several solutions. Firstly, verifying information before dissemination. Secondly, refraining from believing unverified information. Thirdly, avoiding negative assumptions about information before fact-checking. Finally, enhancing media literacy among the public through various channels, from government to literacy communities.
