Abstract
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find out information and facts regarding the impact of the emergence of illegal landfills on the economy in three villages, namely Packaging, Junwangi and Ponokawan villages in Krian District, Sidoarjo Regency. In this study using a qualitative approach in the form of observation, interviews and documentation. The informants of this study came from people who work as scavengers and traders with a total of 20 people spread around the three locations. The results of this study can be concluded that illegal landfills provide more negative impacts which greatly affect the surrounding economic activities. These impacts include a reduction in the aesthetic value of an area, unpleasant odors, the impression of being slum, polluted and a decrease in income experienced by business actors located around illegal waste dumps. Suggestions to overcome the impacts arising from illegal landfills are that the government must improve and add to the waste management system with the latest innovations and provide sanctions for violators in order to create a deterrent effect. In addition, the community around the location can carry out mutual cooperation activities and carry out supervision around the location so that there are no longer illegal dumping sites.
